Needed Supplies for EACH Participant to Bring:

· WOVEN fabric such as quilter’s cotton or flannel. NO KNITS such as fleece or jersey (t-shirt) fabric. The amount of fabric you need will be determined using the chart below. You can find this type of fabric at Walmart, Hobby Lobby, or Joann.

· A Seam Ripper.

· Straight Pins (preferably with a small ball on the head of the pin)

· A measuring tape designed for use with fabric (not like you'd find in a tool store).

· 2 yards of 1 and 1/4 inch wide “non-roll” elastic for the waist (If you can’t find 1 and 1/4 inch wide, 1 inch wide will also work. If your waist measurement is 36 or smaller, you can get only 1 yard of elastic.)

· Optional: sharp fabric scissors (the library does have a limited number for in class use.)

· Optional: thread to match the color of your fabric (If you do so,we suggest Coats & Clark Brand All Purpose brand).

How much fabric you need:  

· Use your hip measurement to determine the size you will need to make using the chart below. (Measure your hip at the fullest point of your butt.)

· Use the chart to determine how many yards of fabric you need to buy. (The chart is intended for fabric at the standard 42-44 inch width.) 

· Choose the pant length you want: full pant, below the knee capri, or shorts.

· NOTE: If the fabric you choose has a definite top and bottom or left/right in its design (we call this directional fabric) you should probably buy 1/2 yard more than is listed for your size. 

· For the purposes of this project, try to get all your fabric in one long piece.
